Chargé d’Affaires Wang Sheng Meets with Vice-Chancellor of University of Zambia

On 3 April 2024, Mr. Wang Sheng, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Zambia met with Professor Mundia Muya, Vice-Chancellor of University of Zambia (UNZA). The two sides exchanged views on China-Zambia educational cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.

Mr. Wang congratulated Professor Muya on his new position and said that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Zambia, the Year of Business Cooperation, as well as the Year of Culture and Tourism between China and Zambia. Both sides will hold a series of celebration activities, in which UNZA could play an important role. Mr. Wang thanked UNZA for its long-term support for Chinese language teaching in Zambia and people-to-people exchange events between the two countries, such as the International Chinese Language Day and Chinese Bridge Competition, and said that China will continue to strengthen educational cooperation with Zambia by providing scholarships, training programs and other means.

Professor Muya said that Zambia and China enjoy profound traditional friendship and vigorous people-to-people exchanges. President Hichilema paid a successful state visit to China last year, bringing relations between the two countries to a new level. Professor Muya thanked China’s long-term support to Zambia educational development, and expressed readiness for UNZA to further promote educational cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
