On 11 April 2024, Ambassador Du Xiaohui met with Wu Guoqi, Associate Vice President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The two sides exchanged views on strengthening agricultural cooperation in Zambia and implementing the Global Development Initiatives (GDI).

Ambassador Du said China and Zambia are making every effort to implement the consensus reached by the two Heads of State, building a comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership, and carrying out good cooperation in agriculture, green energy and other fields. China is willing to work with IFAD and other UN agencies to support Zambia’s agricultural development and jointly implement GDI.

Mr. Wu thanked China for its long-term support to IFAD and said IFAD is willing to cooperate with China in carrying out agricultural projects in Zambia under the framework of GDI, enhancing Zambia’s agricultural development capabilities and jointly addressing global challenges such as climate change and food security.
